What a fun Thanksgiving holiday with Mike & Elizabeth at their property in west Texas. Charlie & I are babysitting our Houston neighbor's dog, Pippin, & so we, finally, had a 1 to 1 dog to people ratio once Charlie got there on Wednesday night. And yes, there was lots of who is dominate to whom & we were frequently having to break up the humping circle. The 3 big dogs were rough & tumble, but Pippin would get in there to get in her humping. She does have a major Napoleon complex since she is the littlest & wants to be the biggest. Sugar is the grand dame & just looked upon them all with disdain & disgust. We just had to laugh & laugh.
Mike smoked the turkey for about an hour & then into the oven it went on Thursday. Lots of delicious food, watching of football games, the guys went hunting - Charlie got a turkey, Elizabeth & I were reading - a perfect holiday if there ever was one. Naps for everyone after lunch so we could have a second go at our leftovers for dinner. Just as good the second time as it was the first!
Back to the ranch today. Hopefully, we'll get the calves sorted quickly tomorrow morning so that we can go on a trail ride. Not sure how many people are out at the camp ground right now, but there have been lots of trucks & horse trailers coming in all day. Should be quite the ruckus out there tonight & we'll see how many of them are "up & at 'em" tomorrow morning.
Hard to believe today is Friday & we actually still have weekend ahead of us to relax a bit before another busy week starts. Hope everyone has had a wonderful Thanksgiving & has safe travels home.
